We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and are fully committed to preventing slavery and human trafficking in relation to all our business activities.
Given the nature of our business, our membership, Board and management teams consider that there is minimal risk that, either within the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (“OGDC” or “we”) or the supply chain supporting our business activities, there are any processes in which we could be seen to support or be complicit in slavery and human trafficking.
Our business
OGDC aims to be an inclusive platform to support the signatories in achieving the goals of the charter. Building on the experience of the Oil and Gas Climate Initiative (OGCI) and others, the platform will accelerate knowledge dissemination and foster collaboration with peers and partners to catalyze scalable actions that maximize impact. With its broad geographical reach, notably toward producing nations in the Global North and South, the OGDC has the potential to deliver concrete outcomes in support of the world’s move to a net-zero greenhouse gas emissions future.

Supply chain contracting
This website concerns the activities of OGDC, though supply chain contracts are entered into on behalf of OGDC by OGCI Climate Investments LLP (“CI”), which was launched in 2016 by OGCI. CI invests in solutions to decarbonize sectors like oil and gas, industrials and commercial transport. CI’s website can be found at www.climateinvestment.com
Our supply chain
Our supply chain is limited to:
(i) providers of services supporting the operation of our offices (e.g., facilities management, cleaning, catering, IT and communications infrastructure);
(ii) providers of services supporting business’ ongoing operations (e.g., banks, insurance brokers, insurance providers, providers of benefits for our employees, training providers, media and communications agencies) and other business support services (e.g., events management, business travel agencies); and
(iii) providers of professional industry related services including lawyers, accountants, consultants and technical advisors.
We do not act as a producer, manufacturer or retailer of physical goods and have no supply chain in relation to such activities.
Where we act as a purchaser of goods or services, we expect a high level of ethical conduct from those businesses with which we do business.
To date we have not been made aware of any human trafficking / slavery activities within our supply chain but, if any were highlighted to us, then we would act immediately in accordance with our legal and moral obligations.
Our Due Diligence processes
Given that the suppliers and providers we utilise are generally office-based in the UK or, to a significant extent, regulated service providers, we consider these to be a low risk in relation to slavery and human trafficking and take no specific action in respect of these relationships.
In case we start engaging with suppliers and providers based in countries with a higher risk of slavery and human trafficking, we will ensure appropriate systems are in place to identify and mitigate the risk of engaging in modern slavery and human trafficking, including through prequalification and/or ongoing monitoring of suppliers and providers.
Our policies on slavery and human trafficking
The employment and procurement practices operated within OGDC ensure that we have a strong reputation both as an employer and with those with whom we do business. We are committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in our supply chain or in any part of our business and that we provide good and safe working conditions and competitive terms and conditions of employment for all personnel throughout OGDC.
This statement reflects our commitment to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere in our supply chain.
The rights and responsibilities of all employees and third parties acting on our behalf are set out in various OGDC, OGCI and CI policies and contracts of employment or contracts for services.
All employees have a responsibly to be alert to the risks, however small, in our business and in the wider supply chain.
Our Training
To maintain awareness and ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business all employees have been made aware of our expectations in this respect through CI’s Code of Conduct and associated regular compliance training.
This statement is made pursuant to section 54(1) of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes OGDC slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending December 2021.
